Parshuram Kund
Today at 8:21 PM Indian Standard Time in India, I as a blogger will commence in this blogger community, I am new to this community and I will learn as I continue, I hope that something positive works out and I do not get bored.
Mostly these blogs will be about random information, facts or satires about architecture, philosophy, art, history, mythology and so on.
I would like to start first with a mythological site, a site in the Indian subcontinent, namely a North Eastern State in Assam. The name of this site is called as "Parshuram Kund". A Hindu Pilgrimage Site near Brahmaputra plateau in the lower reaches of the Lohit River and 21-kilometre North of Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh. This is dedicated to the sage Parshuram.
Shrine of Indian importance. In Makar Sankranti especially thousands of pilgrims visit this place and usual crowd of many pilgrims visit this place in winter. People come just to take a dip in the kund which just like the Ganges, washes away the sins of the people.
A mythological history narrates that this place was Lord Vishnu’s 6th incarnation as Lord Parshuram, in the orders of his father Rishi Jamadagni he beheaded his Mother Renuka with his axe.
The crime as a memory became stuck in his life as the axe was stuck in his hand. Since his father was very content with the act of loyalty, he gave him a boon that he can bring back his mother alive. Lord Parshuram was angry at the crime he committed and therefore he then went to different rishis, and with their advice he went to Lohit river to wash his hands in pure waters, the washing of hands then removed the axe and took away all his sins. That river and that act of cleansing has been now spread across everywhere in India that if one takes a dip in the river, his/her sins will be washed away.
The site came onto existence after a sadhu after 1950 Assam earthquake discovered the kund. This earthquake was so strong it shook the whole North East. A very strong current is now flowing over the original site of the kund but massive boulders have in a surprising way formed a circle in the river bed which is now also forming another kund in the place of the old. This site is now in proper restoration and it is now open for tourists.
On September 24th 2021 Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday laid the foundation stone for developing Parshuram Kund, this site is under the 'Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive' (PRASHAD) scheme of Ministry of Tourism with Rs. 37.88 Crores in January 2021.
PRASHAD is a central sector scheme with complete aid by the Centre. The scheme was launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the Ministry of Tourism in the year 2014-2015 with a focused infrastructure development to harness pilgrimage and heritage tourism destinations for its direct and multiplier effect on upon employment generation and economic development.
